Rustam admits h
e never dreamt about becoming a model. But 6’2” tall, dark brown haired, green eyed handsome young man was discovered in 2005 by a model scout as he was returning home one day after classes at the School of Geography at Baku State University. He was invited to shoot for a TV commercial advertising one of the biggest telecommunication companies in the country. After this small success Rustam was encouraged to enroll into the national contest “the Best Model of Azerbaijan.” He was crowned for two consecutive years in 2006 and 2007 as “the Best Male Model” of the country. Same year Rustam Jabrayilov was a contestant on behalf of Azerbaijan in “the Best Model of the World 2007” and was crowned “the Best Male Model of the World 2007” among 89 international contestants. As a new fresh face Rustam Jabrayilov was offered couple of movie deals in Turkey, including in soap operas. But due to the global financial crisis, the projects had to be postponed and never happened. He returned to Baku and kept moving ahead with his modeling career, appearing in many advertisement campaigns, including for “Nissan,” “Cinici” clothing line, “Samsung” and others.

2012 was a breakout year for Rustam in the United States with him starting the year at the Mercedez Benz Fashion Week in New-York, opening for the American fashion designer Michael Bastian. He was also part of the Adrian Alicia Haute Couture Fashion Show 2012 and runway show featuring ModaLista shop designers, W shop and accessories by Patricia Field. Rustam Jabrayilov will be featured on billboard advertisement campaign for the fall clothing line at “Century 21”, a chain of department stores in the United States.***
In one of his interviews, asked about what would be his biggest dream achievement in fashion world, Rustam said: “Since the days I started my career in Baku, I always wanted to walk the world famous runway at least once. I am so thankful and blessed that this opportunity was given to me by Michael Bastian in New-York in 2012. My picture as the first model walking onto the stage in one of the elegant striped suits from his clothing line was featured in big publications covering fashion. This was a real dream come true.”
